Tony’s Plate Calculator – A Quick Introduction
www.tonysplate.com — This is Tony. Tony is an ordinary kid, who just happens to have type 1 diabetes. — To help keep Tony healthy, Tony’s Dad needed a tool that would help him figure out how many carbs were in the foods Tony was eating. But Tony’s Dad knew that other people would have their own nutritional concerns, so Tony’s Dad created the Calculator at Tony’s Plate, a free, flexible online tool that can help you calculate nutrition information for the foods you eat, the recipes you make and the meals you serve. — But if you just want to look up the nutrition for a single item, it can do that too. Simply perform a Quick Search. The Calculator will then present you with search results from both the MyPyramid database (which can let you know what food groups you are eating) and the USDA’s Nutrient Database (which can give you information like you would find on a Nutrition Facts label). — Select a portion size, enter the number of portions …and there you go, information you can use. — But you want to know more than the nutrition values for a single item. You want to look at an entire day or an entire meal or an entire dish. This is where the concept of a recipe comes in. A recipe is a collection of ingredients that can be added up to get their nutritional totals. — And the Tony’s Plate Calculator takes it further by allowing you to use recipes as ingredients for other recipes. So the recipe for marinara sauce can be combined with recipes for meatballs and recipes …

Just wanted to say that I have made aa recent decision to put my foot down about healthy eating habits in the home. I made this decision a week before this video was made. I am working on getting my wife to support me with healthy eating so my kids can benefit from this 100 percent. If you have two parents in the home it takes two of them to work together to make eating healthy a consistent good habit for the kids. This really works great when two parents agree! Brittany and Brianna have been feeling more energy in the last two weeks since I enforced this in the entire house on April 1, 2008. I was working 3 nights after teaching at school for the last 2 years and decided that those 3 nights I needed to be home to ensure that they are getting the best nutrition that I can offer them. I am the Italian chef of the house according to what my friends and family say! Italian food does not always mean PASTA. There are so many healthy Italian foods out there and I make pasta in moderation. We use plenty of chicken and fish in our recipes. Meatballs don’t have to be beef and pork, they can also be made with …
